Background
Tim runs a long established tree surgery business in Leamington Spa. His homemade Wix website has served him well for a number of years, ranking nicely for a number of important search queries.
Recently he had noticed a decline in the website’s performance and felt that it no longer represented the services he wanted to focus on delivering. He also needed a website that better represented the quality of service that his business offers.
Squarespace Website Build
Replacing an established website requires a great deal of caution as it is very easy to damage any search engine rankings that have been built up over time.
The first thing I did was to ensure that Google Analytics and Search Console was set up and recording data for the existing site. I could then see what keywords the site ranked for and which pages were performing the best. I used that information to put a new site structure together.
SEO
As Tim wants to move his focus away from some of the longstanding services he has been offering to a newer set I built the site to continue ranking well for those keywords while its ranking for the newer services builds up. Once those new services are established it will be easy to remove the old ones.
Summary
Tree Safe’s new mobile-friendly responsive structure will no longer be penalised by Google for its performance and accessibility issues, and will be able to build on the old site’s long established keyword ranking.
I look forward to getting this site live once the content has been finalised.
