In the competitive landscape of the catering industry, The Family Caterers of Rugby, Warwickshire, a family-run business with a rich history and diverse catering services, faced the challenge of a lacklustre online presence. My mission, initiated in January 2023, was to transform their existing website into a robust, SEO-optimised platform, preserving the essence of their brand while significantly enhancing their digital footprint.

The Family Caterers, known for their impeccable service spanning across various events, had an existing WordPress website that did not mirror their operational excellence. Despite a satisfactory aesthetic, the website was not performing effectively in search engine rankings, nor was it user-friendly, particularly on mobile devices. This gap in their online strategy was a roadblock in reaching potential customers in the Rugby area.

The journey to revitalising The Family Caterers' website commenced with an in-depth SEO inspection. This mobile-first approach was not merely about resizing content but involved a complete restructuring to ensure fluidity, speed, and ease of navigation on smaller screens. This shift was crucial not only for user experience but also to align with Google's mobile-first indexing, thereby improving the site’s search engine ranking.

Local SEO Enhancement

To effectively capture the local market, the website's content underwent a strategic overhaul to target essential keywords relevant to the catering business in the Rugby area. This local SEO focus was instrumental in elevating the website's visibility in region-specific searches, ensuring that The Family Caterers appeared prominently in searches for catering services in their primary market. By weaving these keywords naturally into the content, the website became a powerful tool in attracting local clientele.

Streamlining the Booking Process

Understanding the importance of a seamless customer journey, I integrated a user-friendly booking system form on the website. This feature was designed with the end-user in mind, simplifying the booking process and making it more intuitive. The goal was to reduce the steps and complexity involved in making a booking, thereby enhancing user engagement and conversion rates.

Google Business Listing Optimisation

Another critical component of my approach was assisting The Family Caterers in claiming and updating their Google Business listing. This step was pivotal in boosting the business’s local search visibility and establishing its online credibility. By rectifying and optimising their Google Business profile, I ensured that potential customers received accurate and compelling information, further enhancing the business's digital presence.

The relaunch in February 2023 marked a turning point for The Family Caterers. Within weeks, the website's performance escalated, achieving first-page rankings on Google for several key search terms. This surge in online visibility translated into a significant increase in bookings, evidencing the success of the SEO strategies and website redesign.
