In Spring 2023, I embarked on a project to create an online presence for Malcolm Scott Piano Tuning, a London-based piano tuning and repair service. Launched in May 2023, the website reflects Malcolm's passion for music and dedication to his craft, serving as a digital gateway for his business.
Malcolm Scott, a trained piano tuner and technician, has a profound love for music, honed through extensive studies in Scotland and practical training under Steve Droy at the Piano Technology School in Rugby. His services, focused in London and surrounding areas, include a range of piano tuning and maintenance tasks, catering to both one-off and regular needs.
Initially attempting a DIY approach with Wix, Malcolm soon realised the need for professional assistance. He approached us shortly after graduating from the Piano Technology School, seeking a website that resonated with his aesthetic preferences and professional ethos.
Web Design Process
To grasp Malcolm's vision, I started by analysing his favourite websites, colours, and fonts. This insight led to the creation of a bespoke logo and colour scheme, encapsulating Malcolm's professional identity. Given a modest budget, I opted for a Squarespace site, granting him full ownership and ease of management.
SEO and Analytics
My strategy included a light SEO keyword and competitor analysis to optimise site structure and content. This approach focused on capturing highly searched terms relevant to piano tuning, enhancing the website's visibility. I integrated Google Tag Manager with Google Analytics to monitor conversion statistics and user engagement.
User Experience
The website offers a seamless browsing experience, enabling users to effortlessly explore Malcolm's services and contact him through a booking form, email link, and call-to-action buttons. The absence of a significant marketing budget was counterbalanced by the site's innate ability to attract enquiries organically.
A notable feature is the News Blog section, allowing Malcolm to add fresh content regularly. This not only fosters engagement but also bolsters SEO efforts, making the website a dynamic and interactive platform for clients.
